You need a service that people want. Stay away from those scams where they tell you that you can work out of your home if you buy stuff from them. It is cheaper to have a machine stuff envelopes than people, for example. Some people sell things on ebay, but they usually specialize in something they are knowledgeable about or they have contacts with suppliers. If you are a bookkeeper and can work out of your house serving small businesses, that is a skill you already have. Telemarketing is a pretty dead industry with the do not call registry. I paid a consultant who specializes in helping small businesses with insurance and he worked out of his house. If you don’t have a special skill, look for a regular job and develop a skill people want. You need a computer and a fax modem to operate a business out of your home. You will have to advertise your services on http://www.craigslist.org and by contacting people in your field to tell them about your business. Consultants usually go to professional groups in their field, meet people and hand out business cards. You can get cheap business cards at Staples or Office Depot. They don’t have to be fancy and expensive.

I can tell you about what I did to make money from home. I have two children and really didn’t want to work outside of the home, but having some extra money was something that I wanted. I decided to do some reading.
Gracious, are there ever some get rich quick schemes out there. I read about all of them over the course of two months. Nothing I saw really intrigued me until I read about Site Build It.
What is that all about?
Creating your own web site. My site is about resume writing. I know a lot about it and I have worked in the field before (for years), so writing about it is almost second nature.

Some people who have their own sites make a whole lot more than I do. I happen to have created a web site in a very competitive field. My next site will be more focused on a tighter niche as those tend to make a lot more money.
Anyway, it has worked for thousands of people and it’s now working for me.
I’ll include one other link so that you can read about other people’s stories. One young lady started building her site when she was a teenager and has completely financed her way through college with just one web site.
My site won’t do that anytime soon, but I like what I have built so far.

I make money online through affiliate programs. They can be very lucrative, but you really need to be careful when signing up with a company. There are a lot of scams. Look for a company with little or no start up fee. You also want a company that offers excellent training. Check out the products or services that the company offers to see if you find them reliable. Establish a start up budget, and schedule some time to work on your business. The failure rate in this business is high because most people don’t invest the time and energy to succeed. You have to believe in your ability to succeed 100%!
